Little Free Library
Calling for Big Ideas for Little Libraries
We are looking for creative Fridley residents or groups to design and build Little Free Libraries for Fridley parks. Little Free Libraries encourage reuse of books, build community, and inspire readers by providing free book exchanges.
Three design entries will be selected for construction and provided with stipends of up to $150 for materials. Entries that utilize unique designs, celebrate Fridley, and/or use recycled/reused materials are encouraged. Applicants will be notified if they are selected by May 31.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Little Free Library?
Little Free Libraries are book exchanges that anyone can use anytime. You can visit the Little free Library and take a book or leave a book for the next person, all for free. Little Free Libraries provide a convenient way to reuse books instead of throwing them away.
What is the project timeline?
You must submit your application by May 10 and will be notified by May 31. You must provide your completed library to the City by August 6.
Where will the Little Free Libraries be installed?
The three selected libraries will be installed at Commons Park, Moore Lake Park, and the Civic Campus Playground. The City reserves the right to move or modify the library as needed.
What materials can we use?
We encourage you to be as creative as possible and to incorporate reused or recycled materials. Submissions will be evaluated for durability and the ability to withstand weather conditions.
What design considerations should I keep in mind?
You must leave space for the charter sign; visit LittleFreeLibrary.Org for other suggested ideas. You may include a post as part of your library, otherwise the City will utilize a 4" X 4" post. Your group can choose to sign the library or keep it anonymous.
How will I be reimbursed?
City staff will notify you if you are selected and meet with you to review your project budget and eligible expenses. The City will provide a reimbursement of up to $150 for eligible expenses. You or your organization must provide receipts and a w-9 to be reimbursed. In-kind expenses and time are not reimbursable. The City reserves the right to rescind reimbursement if the project differs significantly from the submitted design.
