Emerald Ash Borer

Emerald Ash Borer tunnels in an ash tree

This summer, the City of Fridley has contracted with Rainbow Treecare to protect high-quality public ash trees against emerald ash borer (EAB).

As part of this effort, residents can receive special pricing on protecting their own trees! EAB is an invasive insect that aggressively spreads to attack and quickly kill ash trees. The larvae of EAB tunnel under tree bark, which interrupts the flow of water and food throughout the tree. Once symptoms are present, the ash tree typically dies within one to three years if not properly treated. Residents with ash trees in their yard should plan now to remove and replace the tree or to chemically treat it to prevent the tree from becoming a hazard. Learn more at FridleyMN.gov/EmeraldAsh.
