Why did my garbage container get hit? (This is our biggest obstacle every year!)
Nothing can go in the street – not garbage cans, not snow pushed off your drive, not recycling containers, nothing. Keep all garbage and recycling containers in your driveway. Please help us – it is impossible for us to navigate those big plows around thousands of garbage cans. It is against City Code to push/shovel/blow snow onto or across city streets and boulevards. Penalties range from a formal warning up to a $700 fine or 90 days in jail plus any City cost. Property owners are responsible for their actions or those of their contracted snow remover. The City is also not responsible for damage to landscaping, recycling and garbage containers that are in the street or right-of-way.
