Events

A variety of special events are held each year throughout the city, including the Civic Campus and Springbrook Nature Center. Search through the seasons to see what events are scheduled.

Most events are free, but a few of the events require a ticket to entry.

Typical events include Winterfest, Pumpkin Night in the Park, Environmental Fun Fair, '49er Days, a Summer Concert Series and more.


Spring

These events typically take place from March - May each year.

Community Seed Swap

Saturday, March 7, 2026 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. | Moore Lake Community Building | FREE

Start a garden or grow something new to you this year with seeds from the Community Seed Swap! FREE event takes place at the Moore Lake Community Building located at 5890 Central Ave Ne, Fridley. 

  • Bring your own viable extra veggie, herb, flower, and native plant seeds to share (not required) and take home new seeds.
  • Get gardening and seed starting advice from Anoka County Master Gardeners. 
  • Learn how to make your own newspaper pots for seed starting. 
  • Attend native plant germination demonstrations.
  • Free starter pots and native plant seeds from Minnesota Native Landscapes and Anoka Conservation District while supplies last.
  • All Welcome, No Registration Required. 

If you can't make the event, you can drop off viable seeds in labeled envelopes at Fridley City Hall or Springbrook Nature Center March 2 - 6, 2026.

Spring Fling Dance - All Ages

Friday, March 27, 2026 | 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. | Hayes Elementary School

Beat the Winter Blues at our family-friendly Spring dance!  Dress in your brightest Spring colors and get ready for face painting, photo op, crafts, and of course dancing to your favorite tunes that DJ Jenni will be spinning all night long!  Light snacks will be provided.   Each individual Ages 2+ requires a ticket for entry to the dance.  Children must have 18+ Adult Supervision.

April Fool's Scavenger Hunt

Wednesday, April 1, 2026 | 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. | Locke Park | FREE

Join us at Locke Park for our FREE April Fool's Scavenger Hunt! Decode clues, explore the park and find one of the many jokes hidden on the trails. Find all the jokes and win a prize!

Locke Park is located behind the Fridley Civic Campus at 840 71st Ave Ne, Fridley.  Proceed to the furthest interior parking lot and meet us a Locke Park Shelter #1.

Environmental Fun Fair

Saturday, May 2, 2026 | 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. | Springbrook Nature Center | FREE

A variety of outdoor and environmental exhibitors will be present to help us appreciate our wonderful natural world. This FREE event will include: Event Passport and Prizes, Environmental and Educational Exhibitors and FREE Pop-Up Community Toy Store.

Join our community for a lovely night enjoying a free summer concert in Fridley! All concerts are outside - please bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating.

Fridley ’49er Days is made possible by the ’49er Days Committee volunteers, the Fridley Lions, Twin Cities Gateway and our sponsors.

Citywide Garage Sale

Recurring Event | June | Annually 

The Citywide Garage Sale takes place in June every summer. Trash to Treasure Day is the day following the Citywide Garage Sale.  Visit the event page to register your sale!

Safety Camp

Tue. June 23 - Wed. June 24, 2026 | 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. | Civic Campus 

Join Fridley Police, Fire & Recreation to learn about good safety practices while having fun, including a behind the scenes tour of the police and fire departments! Kids will also learn from our partners from Northstar Search & Rescue, The Raptor Center, MN DNR, Allina Health, Springbrook Nature Center and more. Safety topics include fire, seat belt, animals, weather, electrical, bicycle, first aid, water & 911. All campers will participate in our end of camp graduation ceremony.

Campers must have been enrolled in and completed Grades 2-4 during the 2025/2026 school year in order to register.

Our Leaders Are Readers

Recurring Event | Summer | Civic Campus | FREE

Join us at the Fridley Civic Campus (7071 University Ave. Ne, Fridley) as our civic leaders read stories about their jobs and roles in city government. After each story, readers will take families on a behind the scenes tour of their workspaces. This program is brought to you through a partnership with the Anoka County Library, Mississippi Branch.

Kid's Musical

Friday, August 5, 2026 | Time to be announced | Commons Park | FREE

Get ready to be swept away into the enchanting world of Arendelle! Join us for a heartwarming journey of sisterhood, courage, and the power of love in Frozen JR. — a spectacular stage adaptation of Disney’s beloved story.

All Ages are encouraged to join us at Commons Park (555 61st Ave, Fridley) for this FREE performance by ETC Productions.  This is an outdoor performance.  Please bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating.

Pumpkin Night in the Park

Saturday, October 17, 2026 | 5-9 p.m. | Springbrook Nature Center

Join us for a magical night of over 1,000 light pumpkins illuminating the trails, costumed characters, DJ & dance, fire dancers, food trucks and more!

Community Pumpkin Carving

Calling all gourd enthusiasts! Springbrook Nature Center needs your help to carve more than 1,000 pumpkins for Pumpkin Night in the Park.

Winter Lights Contest

This annual event will open for FREE registration in November, with the Holiday Lights Tour Maps and awards being announced in mid-December.   Consider participating next year, to make our event bigger and brighter!

Lantern Light Hikes at Springbrook Nature Center

Recurring Event | 2025-2026 | Springbrook Nature Center

Bundle up and get ready to hike at Springbrook using the light of glowing lanterns to guide your way. Listen for owls hooting, keep your eyes peeled for elusive nocturnal animals and warm up by the fire along the way.

Selected winter Fridays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. $5 per person, children 2 and under are free.

Register online, by calling 763-572-3588, or pay at the door. Please check in at Springbrook’s front desk for the event.

If snowpack allows, snowshoes will be available to rent for $5/pair, while supplies last.
