Met Council will be available to discuss the latest designs, project impacts, and mitigation. Met Council, Anoka County Parks, and the City of Fridley will be seeking input from attendees on green space improvements. Proposed construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.

Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES), operator of the metro-area wastewater collection and treatment system, plans to build a new lift station in Fridley to replace the existing and aging lift station in Brooklyn Park (L32). The new lift station will be built on the Camp Lockslea sight following the sale of the property to MCES by the Girl Scouts River Valleys in 2017.

The MCES advises the existing lift station in Brooklyn Park is 50 years old and has reached the end of its useful life. It lacks adequate storage, leading to sewer backups and odors. This site will be used as an odor control facility and to access pipes that cross the river. The new facility will preserve wastewater system assets, improve system reliability, and accommodate community growth. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is asking for public comment on the draft Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for the project through September 9th.
