Community Concert Series

There are a variety of musical performances on Mondays and Tuesdays throughout the summer, with an additional Friday kids performance. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy music with your neighbors.

All events are free to attend. We hope to see you there!


Civic Campus - Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Come early for food trucks and games on the plaza! In case of rain, concerts may be moved to the large shelter nearby at Locke Park.  Concerts are held behind City Hall at the outdoor amphitheater. Parking is available behind City Hall. Civic Campus is located at 7071 University Ave NE, Fridley, MN 55432.

July 8 - Innocent Reggae Band (Reggae)

July 22 - Darlene and the Boys (Classic Country)

Darlene and the Boys perform classic country and variety songs that will get you tapping your toes and enjoying the evening! You will enjoy hit songs by such artists as: Johnny Cash; Patsy Cline; Creedence Clearwater; Neil Diamond; Hank Williams; Loretta Lynn and so many more! They feature (3) vocalists; acoustic rhythm guitar; fiddle; lead guitar; piano/key bass and drums. Darlene and the Boys has entertained capacity crowds at the Minnesota State Fair (DNR stage) consecutively since 2012! August 19 - Jack Brass Band (New Orleans Style Brass Band)

The Jack Brass Band was formed in 1999 in the Twin Cities. Based on the traditions of New Orleans' brass bands, they are the ambassadors to the Crescent City's rich musical history. The band plays "Feel-Good Music" for audiences of any age, for any occasion. The band has the ability and repertoire to play everything from old New Orleans jazz from Louis Armstrong's era, to the modern street Mardi-Gras anthems with the instrumentation, feel, and energy they have mastered through countless gigs, parades, festival appearances, and trips to New Orleans to listen, learn, and play alongside the masters. "If you like your gumbo spicy and your music hot, check out the Jack Brass Band," said Wynton Marsalis after hearing them. Simply put, the Jack Brass Band brings the party to any event with a rich tradition and a groove that will make you want to get up and dance to the New Orleans sound.

Concert Activities

  • 4-7 p.m.: Touch-A Truck 
    • In partnership with Fridley Public Works and Public Safety. Kids of all ages can explore a variety of big trucks, lawn equipment, electric vehicles, police cars, a school bus, a fire truck and more!
  • 4-5 p.m.: Sensory friendly hour: No loud noises, lights, sirens, etc. 
  • 5-7 p.m.: Touch-A-Truck normal hours: trucks may make loud noises and have flashing lights .
  • 4-7 p.m.: Popsicles with Public Safety: Fridley Police Officers and Firefighters will be onsite at the Touch‐A‐Truck event handing out free popsicles (while supplies last)!
  • 4-7 p.m.: Bouncy houses - Kids can come bounce on a truck themed bouncer! (Parents must be present.)
  • 4-7:30 p.m. Food Trucks & Games on the Plaza

Springbrook Nature Center - Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Springbrook concerts are supported by a generous donation from the Springbrook Nature Center Foundation. In case of rain, concerts will be held in the covered area of the pavilion. There is ample parking at the Nature Center. Springbrook Nature Center is located at 100 85th Ave NE, Fridley, MN 55432.

August 12 - Bluegroove Bluegrass

Blue Groove is a multiple award-winning bluegrass band based in the Twin Cities that plays both contemporary and classic bluegrass tunes with a creative approach that drives while still maintaining a sense of laid-back, Midwestern chill. That’s what they mean by “groove”. The bands inviting sound combined with their openness warmth on and off-stage have made them crowd favorites at festivals and concert venues all around Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.

The band covers a number of past and current contemporary bluegrass artists. A Blue Groove show may feature songs from Alison Krauss or Rhonda Vincent as well as traditional bluegrass (Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs) with all of its drive, improvisation and harmony singing! Blue Groove also likes to put a bluegrass spin on more contemporary/pop artists such as U2, Passenger, and the Doobie Brothers!

Members of Blue Groove bluegrass band include Adelle Hyrkas, lead vocals and rhythm guitar; David Smith, banjo and vocals; Bob Doe, lead guitar, dobro, and vocals; Pete Mathison bass and vocals, Tom Wadzinski mandolin and vocals. Ocassionally we may have a guest fiddler- past guests have included fiddlers Richard Kriehn, Michael Prewitt, and AJ Srubas.

Mondays at Moore - Mondays at 7 p.m.

In case of rain, concerts will be held inside the Moore Lake Community Building at limited capacity. Moore Lake Concerts are held at Shelter #5 (North end of the park) and at the Moore Lake Community Building covered area. Parking is available in the main lot or in the north parking lot. Moore Lake Park is located at 5890 Central Ave NE, Fridley, MN 55432.

About The Fridley City Band

Fridley City Band performing at Moore Lake Park

The Fridley City Band has a history of over 60 years of performing in Fridley and the surrounding communities. The band was formed in 1961 with only 25 members and has since grown to over 60. They perform a variety of concert band music in Fridley during the school year, and at various sites throughout the Twin Cities in the summer. Make sure to catch the Fridley City Band at various locations in Fridley's parks this summer as part of the  outdoor concert series, "Music In Our Parks".

June 30 - Jeff Loven, Rock

About Jeff Loven

Singer and guitarist Jeff Loven has performed at a variety of venues on numerous stages at clubs, universities and festivals, both locally and nationally.

Jeff won two Minnesota Music Awards and was picked by Steve Vai and Steve Morse as winner of Kahler’s International Guitar Competition in Guitar Magazine. He has toured across the United States as guitarist for Obsession and Funhouse, rocked 93X-fest with The Coup De Grace and tore up CBGBs in New York with Crash Street featuring Melvin James. Many people will also remember seeing Jeff perform with The Killawatts and also with KQRS house band The Janitors.

Recently Jeff has enjoyed tremendous success performing as one of the Midwest’s favorite One Man Bands.

July 28 - Duo Corda, Jazz/International

Duo CORDA is a new project on the Twin Cities' music scene. Cellist Jacqueline Ultan and guitarist Pavel Jany blend together elements of jazz, classical music and a variety of international music styles. Their repertoire includes some original material combined with works from Astor Piazzolla and Joaquín Rodrigo to Django Reinhardt and Jaco Pastorius.

June 16, August 11, August 25 - Northeast Orchestra (Classical Chamber)

About the Northeast Orchestra

The Northeast Orchestra was started in 1972 from a group of 6 members of the Fridley League of Women Voters that wanted to gather to play music together. The orchestra has since grown to over 60 members and performs and rehearses at St. William's Church in Fridley. Full orchestra concerts take place from September to May.  The City of Fridley is excited to partner with musicians of the Northeast Orchestra to provide classical chamber music in our parks this summer.
