Winter Parking Reminder: No Overnight Parking
Published on November 20, 2025
As winter approaches, please remember: No overnight parking is allowed on City streets from November 1 through April 1, between the hours of 2‐6 a.m.
Why do these restrictions matter?
Snow plow drivers already face challenging conditions – low visibility, icy roads and long hours. Parked cars and misplaced trash bins create extra hazards that slow them down and put everyone at risk. By following these restrictions, you’re helping protect your vehicle, your neighbors and our plow drivers.
“Our plows are large and take up a lot of the roadway at one time. Swerving around cars could potentially cause damage to property,” said Public Works employee, John Odenthal. “When cars are left on the street, we often have to leave behind snow piles (wind rows) that freeze and create hazards for everyone. Please help us do our job safely by moving your vehicle off the road.”
Public Safety Deputy Director Patrick Faber emphasized the importance of keeping streets clear in the winter. “Clear streets save lives during winter emergencies – our parking enforcement from 2‐6 a.m. ensures ambulances, fire trucks and snow plows can navigate safely through our neighborhoods. We ask residents to move their vehicles not just to avoid tickets, but to help us keep our community safe when every minute counts.”
When you move your vehicle off the street, you are:
- Avoiding a parking violation ticket
- Allowing plows to clear the full width of the roadway
- Preventing accidental damage to your vehicle from snow removal
- Ensuring emergency vehicles can get through safely
- Helping plow drivers clear streets faster and more effectively – sometimes several times in a single day!
