After a year of construction, Commons Park (555 61st Avenue) is open! While some amenities are now open to the public, a few things are still finishing up. Here’s what you need to know.

What's open:
  • Recreation building, including indoor restrooms and vending (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Saturday-Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
  • Splash pad
  • Playground
  •  Pickleball and volleyball courts
  • Basketball courts
  • Trails
  • Parking lots

What's still finishing up:

  • Exterior restrooms remain closed
  • Some green spaces and open fields are freshly seeded/sodded and will be flagged off - please stay off those particular areas
  • Baseball field will open grand opening weekend, July 16-18
  • 7th Street adjacent to the park is under construction

We're excited to open what's ready and can't wait to celebrate with you at the official grand opening during Fridley '49er Days, July 16-18! Ribbon cutting, live music, food trucks and more. Stay tuned!

Neighborhood Parks

Several neighborhood park construction projects will also get underway during the summer 2026. Flanery park and Summit Square Park will be closing for improvements. The Flanery Park picnic shelter will not be available for rental this season.
