Four of our parks will be under construction during 2025, including a major project at Commons Park. Other projects include Sylvan Hills, Oak Hill and Jubilee parks.

Commons Park

The Commons Park project will be perhaps the largest park project ever completed in Fridley. A new park building, ballfields, shelters, pickleball courts, splash pad, inclusive playground and more will completely transform Fridley’s busiest park.

Preparations for construction such as removal of the existing warming house, ice rinks and park shelter will begin in the spring. The entire park will be closed as a construction site beginning on July 7, after the completion of the baseball season. The project will extend into next year with the goal of a summer 2026 opening.

Programming Locations

The Fridley ‘49er Days Festival will still take place in and around Commons Park on June 12‐14 and Fridley Parks and Recreation’s popular Summer ROCKS day camp program will move to Stevenson Elementary for the summer.

Neighborhood Parks

Our 2025 neighborhood park projects, Oak Hill, Jubilee and Sylvan Hills will also be closed for most of the construction season. Park staff understand that these construction projects impact the residents and neighborhoods surrounding them and appreciate the cooperation of our community to keep the sites safe as they are being improved.

2026 Improvements

Staff will also be organizing community meetings over the summer at Flanery and Summit Square parks, which will see 2026 improvements. Please visit FridleyMN.gov/ParkPlan for the latest information and updates on park construction.
