Park improvements in Fridley are bringing our community together to recreate, celebrate and enjoy nature like never before. The transformation of Moore Lake Park has been a tremendous success story and demonstrates how parks serve as a connecting point for diverse programs, interests and activities.

We have seen the Moore Lake Community Building become a destination for hundreds of events ranging from business meetings to graduation parties to summer camps. Moore Lake provides the perfect place to introduce someone to fishing or take in a stunning sunset. The playground has become a meeting place for kids and families across Fridley and the pickleball and basketball courts have provided a critical place for fitness and fun.

Commons Park

As many thousands of visitors enjoy Moore Lake Park, the work to revitalize Commons Park continues towards a 2026 opening. Residents will see many new features take shape in the park over the fall season as the playground, splash pad, fields, courts trails and park building are constructed.

Staff asks for the support and assistance of residents as the site is prepared for use in 2026. There will be no winter activities such as sledding or skating this season as construction is completed. Residents can look forward to a fun winter atmosphere in the new park space with the park building serving as a warming house alongside an outdoor fire pit, updated sledding area and skating plaza.

A summer 2026 grand opening celebration is being planned as part of a reimagined Fridley ‘49er Days festival that will move to July 16‐18, 2026.

Fall is a great time to enjoy the outdoors by visiting one of our recently updated parks such as Sylvan Hills, participating in one of our many recreation programs or walking the trails at Springbrook Nature Center. For the latest on park projects, please visit FridleyMN.gov/ParkPlan.
