Park System Improvement Plan Update
Published on September 12, 2025
Fridley’s park system continues to expand and improve, providing new opportunities and experiences for all in our community.
Neighborhood Parks
Three neighborhood parks will be reopening in 2025 with all new amenities to serve residents. Located on the south end of Fridley, Oak Hill and Jubilee are smaller neighborhood parks that now feature brand new features such as playgrounds, shade structures, basketball courts, park benches, landscaping and bike racks. These beautiful new spaces will provide a point of pride and place for residents to gather and play.
Sylvan Hills Park will open in the fall of 2025 and includes important water quality features in addition to a fun new playground, updated courts, picnic shelter and unique landscaping.
Commons Park
Commons Park, located in the heart of Fridley, is now fully closed for major reconstruction until completion in 2026. When completed, a new park building will serve as a central hub for recreation activities throughout Fridley and will be home to countless classes, camps, programs and community festivals.
Commons Park will feature something for everyone with a splash pad, inclusive playground, hammock grove, baseball fields, pickleball courts and public art.
As this destination park is completed, residents are invited to explore the nearly 40 parks that make up Fridley’s park system. New experiences are around every corner so plan a visit to a new playground, hike the trails at Springbrook Nature Center, bike to discover an updated neighborhood park or keep an eye out for Fridley’s first outdoor public art installation, set to make a splash later this year at Moore Lake Park!
2026 Plans
2026 park improvement projects are planned at Summit Square and Flanery Parks and staff would like to thank the many residents that shared input online or at community meetings to help shape the exciting future of these parks.
