The annual reassessment starts in April and lasts through September. The 2026 reassessment will be conducted in two areas primarily in the central and the east part of the city. The first area is bounded by Mississippi Street to the north, 61st Street to the south, University Avenue on the west and Central Avenue on the east. The second area is bounded by 69th Avenue to the north, Gardena Avenue to the south, Central Avenue to the west and Stinson Boulevard to the east.

Inspection ‐ Things to Know:

The Assessor’s office will send a letter in advance of their visit to your neighborhood. They can arrive anytime within two to three weeks of that notice.

Staff will be driving City vehicles numbered 118 or 120 (White sedan﴿ or 116 (Black Chevrolet Malibu). All vehicles have a city logo on the front door of the vehicle.

The Assessor is required to review property information once every five years, and this review may or may not include a request for both an interior and exterior inspection.

Staff will knock first and wait for a response. If no response is received, staff will place a door tag with instructions, the staff member’s name and the telephone number to call back. Staff will complete the exterior portion of their inspection at that time and move on to the next home.

If a Tag is Left on Your Door:

The tag left on your door will include a parcel identification number at the top, two options with boxes, the date the tag was left and the name of the staff member who visited. Only one box will be marked, and that option will give directions on the next steps. The first option indicates that we have all the information we need but offers contact information if you have further questions. The second option is a request to make an appointment for a review of the home's interior. The staff members’ contact information will be provided so that an appointment can be scheduled. You are welcome to call the assessor’s office at 763‐572‐3537 for residential properties and 763‐572‐3536 for commercial, industrial or apartments.

You are not required to allow the appraiser into your home. You are encouraged to call and discuss what information the appraiser is interested in, and if there is an alternative means to accomplish an update of the record without going inside your home. Your participation is appreciated, as it helps to ensure a fair and equitable assessment for all.
