Activities and Programs

Participants must be ages 3-5 by the start of the program

Youth instructors will focus on teaching children age-appropriate fundamentals while encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive social interaction. All equipment is provided.

Youth Activities - Gr. K-6

After-School Activities - Gr. K-4

The following classes are offered after school at Hayes Elementary School from 3:45 ‐ 5:15 p.m. to youth in grades K‐4 (unless noted otherwise﴿. Snacks are provided before class. Recreation leaders will meet participants in the cafeteria at dismissal time. Stevenson students will meet our Recreation leader at the bus loading area and will be transported to Hayes. For students not attending Hayes or Stevenson, drop‐off is at 4 p.m. at the Hayes cafeteria. Parent/caregiver pick‐up is in the Hayes cafeteria at 5:15 p.m.

Note: If your child needs to be transported from Stevenson Elementary to Hayes Elementary, please select the transportation option when registering. Transportation is NOT provided after class - all participants must be picked up at Hayes.

Summer Safety Camp - Gr. 2-4

Learn all about safety in our 2-day summer camp, June 23 - 24, 2026! Kids in grades 2-4 will explore various safety topics with Fridley Police, Fire and Recreation Departments. Registration fee includes: a bike helmet, t-shirt, tote bag, and daily lunch & snacks.

Summer ROCKS Day Camp - Gr. K-6

Summer ROCKS: Recreation Opportunities for Creative Kids in the Summer

Kids currently in grades K-6 will have a blast at our Monday-Friday day long camp. Camp hours are from 7:45 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Mornings: playground, arts and crafts, creative play, and more exploring the park.
  • Lunch: Breakfast and lunch are provided by Fridley Nutritional Services. Children should bring two snacks.
  • Afternoon activities: a variety of scheduled classes including sports, arts & crafts and STEM.
  • Weekly activities: Special Events or Field Trips.
  • Dates: Enroll for one or all 9 weeks, June 15 - August 14, 2026
  • Location: Commons Park & Building, Fridley - We will have have weekly scheduled time at the brand-new playground and splash pad at Commons Park!

Enrichment Classes - Ages 15+

Immersive Soundbath
Experience a one-hour sound meditation that uses crystal singing bowls and other instruments designed to create a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. It is the perfect way to recenter and recharge before the busy holiday season! This immersive experience will calm your mind and soothe your soul, allowing you to enter a deep state of relaxation.  Most participants choose a lying position on the floor for the duration of the class.  Please bring a yoga mat or blanket along with any other items such as pillows and additional blankets for your comfort.

Pickleball

Classes meet weekly for four sessions. Classes accommodate skill levels from Beginner to Advanced.

Players who are new to the game of Pickleball and looking to develop their skills.

Intermediate Class
Skills & Drills - Know how to play the game. Looking to improve.

Advanced Class
Live Play & Coaching - Coach watches game, offers performance tips.

Clinics

Clinics meet for a 1-2 day weekend session. Clinics are intended to introduce brand new players to the game. Beginner skill level.

Enjoy the party as we shake to the rhythms of Latin-infused music/dance! 

Adult Leagues

Volleyball Leagues - Coed and Women's 

Indoor Year-Round and Outdoor Summer Sand leagues are offered at both a competitive and recreational skill level. Individual and team registrations available. Team Roster Min/Max: 6/12.


Pickleball Leagues & Tournaments

All Ages League and Ages 20-40 League

Self-officiated. Non-DUPR league for all skill levels. Individuals will register and be placed in doubles games with players of similar skill level. Both All Ages and Ages 20-40 Leagues offered.

Minnesota Pickleball DUPR Rated Competitive League

In partnership with Minnesota Pickleball, we are offering state sanctioned ladder league! All results are recorded in DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating﴿ and the Minnesota Pickleball player database. No specific skill level or DUPR rating is required but this league is meant for a slightly more competitive level of play than our other league offerings. Open to any age, gender, and no partner is necessary.

Pickleball Tournament - 49'er Days

The City of Fridley will host a Minnesota State Pickleball tournament qualifier in July! This tournament is designed for everyone—whether you are a seasoned pro or picking up a paddle for the first time, all skill levels, ages, and experience are welcome. Whether you're chasing a state seed or just looking for a low‐pressure way to start competing, everyone can participate. Top players from each event can secure a spot in the state tournament and everyone that participates will collect valuable points toward a seed in the sanctioned Minnesota State Pickleball Tournament.


55+ Golf - Coed

Teams are made up of 2 individuals. Players will be paired up, unless you indicate a specific partner at time of registration.

 


Bean Bag Toss - Coed

Fridley Youth Sports Assoc.

Fridley Youth Sports Association (FYSA)

Fridley Youth Sports Association (FYSA) promotes youth sports in Fridley, providing opportunities for all youth to participate in competitive and recreational team sports. FYSA is a non-profit organization relying solely on parent volunteers. Current sports offered through FYSA include Baseball, Basketball, Football, Softball and Soccer.

Spring Lake Park Lacrosse Association (SLPYLA)

Minneapolis Titans Youth Hockey

The Minneapolis Titans Youth Hockey program is dedicated to developing young hockey players in and around the Twin Cities. Kids from Minneapolis, North St. Paul, Columbia Heights, Fridley, and Brooklyn Center, Minnesota are welcome to join! Registration, season information, learn to skate program, and more can be found on their website.
