This week, the contractor completed watermain replacement on Able Street and 76th Avenue, continued installing and reconnecting individual water services, completed pavement reclamation, and continued concrete curb and driveway removals throughout the project area. Next week, the contractor plans to complete water service installation and reconnections on Able Street and 76th Avenue, and begin setting up the temporary water system on Symphony Street.

July 2nd, 2026
This week,the contractor continued watermain replacement on Able Street, began reconnecting residents' water services to the new watermain, and installed temporary mailboxes for residents on Symphony Street, 74th Avenue, and 5th Street. Next week, contractors plan to continue installing individual water services on Able Street and begin watermain replacement on 76th Avenue. This week, the City's contractor continued installing an above-ground temporary water system and activated temporary water service for affected properties. Work also began on the water main replacement at Able Street. Next week, the contractor plans to complete activation of the temporary water system and continue the water main replacement heading north along Able Street and 76th Avenue. This week, the City's contractor, Park Construction, began construction along Able Street and 76th Avenue. Work included removing concrete curb & gutter and driveways, reclaiming the existing pavement, and trimming trees within the watermain excavation limits. The contractor also began installing an above-ground temporary water system to maintain service to impacted properties. Next week, the contractor plans to complete activation of the temporary water system and begin excavation to replace the existing watermain. June 5th, 2026
The City's Contractor, Park Construction, is anticipated to begin construction activities on Monday, June 8th. Work will start on Able Street and 76th Avenue. Construction will take place in phases beginning with the streets on the east side of the neighborhood before moving to the streets on the west side. May 1st, 2026
In conjunction with the upcoming Street Rehabilitation Project, the City will be lining existing sanitary sewer mains throughout the Melody Manor neighborhood beginning Monday, May 4th. For more information on the City's sanitary sewer lining, please visit the City's project webpage.
In regard to the street reconstruction, the City is working to schedule a preconstruction meeting with the contractor in the coming weeks. Following that meeting, we will have a more formalized project schedule to share. At this time, we anticipate the contractor will begin construction in late May or early June. Once work starts, residents can expect a weekly project update sent to the project email list and posted on the City's project webpage. On Monday, April 13th, the City of Fridley awarded the 2026 Street Rehabilitation Project No.ST2026-01 to Park Construction Company out of Minneapolis. The project includes street rehabilitation, spot curb and gutter replacement, watermain replacement on select streets, and other miscellaneous improvements. The City is working with the contractor to develop a preliminary construction schedule and we will continue to update this page with more information as it comes in.
March 20th, 2026
On Tuesday, March 17th, staff advertised the project for public bids. The bid opening for the project is slated for early April with the anticipation of bringing to City Council for award in Mid-April. Construction is anticipated to begin as early as May; however, this is dependent on the awarded contractor's schedule. Once a schedule is confirmed, staff will send a follow-up project update. At the November 10th City Council meeting, a Public Hearing on Improvements was held for the Street Rehabilitation Project No. ST2026-01. Property owners should have received a letter in the mail in late October with information about the Public Hearing. City Council approved the project to move forward in the process by approving a Resolution to Ordering Final Plans, Specifications and Calling for Bids for the Street Rehabilitation Project No. ST2026-01. October 24, 2025
The feasibility study for the 2026 Street Rehabilitation Project was approved by City Council on October 13, 2025. Hearing notices were mailed today, and property owners should expect to receive them next week. Each notice includes hearing details and an individual preliminary assessment estimate for each affected property. The City Council has scheduled a public hearing which will take place on November 10, 2025 during the Council Meeting at Fridley Civic Campus. Residents in the 2026 project area are encouraged to attend as preliminary assessments will be discussed. On October 2nd, a second Open House was held by project staff. A Q&A session was held before a presentation was given detailing the project specifications, anticipated timeline for the project, as well as information on the assessment process. Invitations were recently mailed to residents and property owners within the 2026 Street Rehabilitation Project (ST2026-01) area. The mailing announced an upcoming open house on Thursday, October 2, 2025, during which a presentation will be given on the 2026 project, followed by an opportunity for questions.
