This week, the Contractor completed remaining full-depth concrete repairs and began boulevard restoration in locations disturbed by construction activity. Next week, the Contractor will complete partial-depth concrete repairs throughout the project area and is anticipated to begin saw & sealing operations on the new concrete. June 27th, 2025
This week, the Contractor completed preliminary saw cutting and began rehabilitation of the existing concrete pavement. Next week, the Contractor will complete select storm sewer and miscellaneous utility improvements. Concrete pavement rehabilitation activity is anticipated to resume on Monday, July 7th. June 20th, 2025
This week, the Contractor began saw cutting the existing concrete pavement and completed fire hydrant replacements within the project area. Next week, the Contractor will complete saw cutting and begin removal and rehabilitation of the existing concrete pavement. During this work, traffic control signage will be placed on all streets converting them to one-way vehicle traffic throughout the project area. Additionally, all properties within the project area will be placed on temporary mail service beginning Tuesday, June 24th until the end of concrete pavement rehabilitation work. June 12th, 2025
The City’s contractor, Ti-Zack Concrete, is now anticipated to begin rehabilitation of the existing concrete pavement beginning the week of June 16th. Next week, the Contractor will mark concrete rehabilitation throughout the project area and complete saw cutting for removals. May 16th, 2025
Beginning next week, crews will be completing replacement and relocation of existing cable and utility pedestals on behalf of Comcast within the project area. This work is being performed in advance of the City’s street rehabilitation project. Construction activity will generally include directional drilling and minor excavations in the boulevard, and is anticipated to take 2-3 weeks to complete. April 18th, 2025
This week, the City of Fridley Council ordered traffic calming improvements along East Danube Road in conjunction with the project. The City’s Engineering Division also hosted an informal Q&A session with adjacent properties to discuss the final project scope, construction coordination, and answer resident questions prior to construction. The City’s street contractor is currently anticipated to begin concrete pavement rehabilitation in August. In preparation for this work, coordinated public and private utility improvements will be taking place over the coming months. On March 10th, 2025, the City of Fridley awarded the 2025 Street Rehabilitation Project to Ti-Zack Concrete, LLC of Le Center, Minnesota. The project will include concrete pavement rehabilitation, utility improvements and other miscellaneous work. The City is currently working with the contractor to develop a preliminary construction schedule. February 12th, 2025
During public engagement for the project, City staff received comments regarding excessive traffic volume and speed along East Danube Road. City staff evaluated existing traffic conditions as part of the project’s feasibility study and held an additional public meeting with adjacent properties on December 18th, 2024. While staff determined that thresholds for City construction of traffic calming elements are not met, traffic calming improvements could be implemented if desired and funded by benefitting property owners.
On December 23rd, 2024, the City received a petition from benefitting properties to formally request the evaluation of traffic calming improvements along East Danube Road. Over the coming weeks, City staff will gather additional traffic data within the project area to evaluate the feasibility of various potential traffic calming implementations. The findings of the traffic calming study will be brought to the City Council in March and be made available on the City’s project webpage once completed.

There, staff presented an overview of the proposed project scope, construction, estimated costs, funding and special assessments before the hearing was opened for public feedback regarding the project.
